The idea behind the Table

Good work moves forward through people.

Someone may hold your next piece. Someone else may know the person who does.

The Atlas Table is a conversation between one host and one guest, with a community beyond the two seats. We help builders articulate their story, clarify their next ask, and give both a way to travel.

Meet the human chain
A crowd surrounds a two-seat table, with several people carrying a useful clay piece.
Two seats are where the conversation begins.

The puzzle principle

Success is a collection of breakthrough pieces.

When the right pieces come together at the right time, years of searching can collapse into weeks of progress.

Today, a hire. Tomorrow, a cofounder, a distribution partner, or funding.

Each piece helps you move forward. The next stage brings another need.

Someone may hold your next piece—or know the person who does.

The unexpected human chain

You’ve been told to network harder.
But where do you look?

The person who can help may be connected to someone you would never think to approach—or target with an ad.

You can target an audience. You cannot predict every connection your story might set in motion.

Three illustrative stories of how a useful connection could begin.

The boy who passes it on.

A boy sees your story and mentions it to a friend, whose uncle has worked on the technical problem you are facing. He could not solve it himself, but he helped your ask reach someone who could.

The widow who recognises a purpose.

A widow hears your story and recognises a cause she and her late husband cared about. She sees a meaningful way to contribute her business experience, trusted relationships, or resources.

The stranger who has solved it before.

A stranger hears the challenge that has held you back for months and recognises it from experience. They share what worked for them and help you see a practical next step.

You don’t need everyone to have the answer. Sometimes, you need one person to pass your story to someone who does.

The laws of the TableRead the principles behind the Table.Five beliefs that shape the conversations and the community.
The crowd has a new home.
The internet gives a story a way to travel beyond the people you already know. We shape and promote episode highlights so the work and its ask can reach new circles.
The chain is invisible.
You cannot always predict who knows whom. A listener, neighbour, colleague, or friend may be one connection away from the person your work needs.
The ear meets the answer.
Someone who understands why your work matters can help your ask reach someone with relevant experience or resources. A clear story gives them something useful to pass on.
Honor is mutual, never forced.
Help is a choice. Bring an honest account of your work, make a specific ask, and respect the time and boundaries of anyone who chooses to contribute.
The law of the sequence.
Progress brings new needs. Each useful piece helps you take a next step, and the next stage may call for a different person, resource, or lesson.

The community we are building

Meaningful work.
Useful contributions.
Mutual respect.

The quality of the Table comes from the work people bring and the care they show one another.

You may arrive with a problem and discover you have solved something another builder is facing. You may come to listen and realise you know exactly who should hear the ask.

Guests bring evidence of work, an honest obstacle, and a willingness to share what they have learned. Listeners can contribute experience, resources, a relevant introduction, or a thoughtful share.

You do not need a large following or an insider’s invitation to have something useful to offer.

Planned: weekly visibility-readiness coaching to help builders articulate their work, show useful evidence online, and make a clearer ask. Explore the proposed coaching; details will be announced.

A moment behind the idea

“I know someone who can
help you even more.”

One afternoon, someone Pelumi had barely spoken with in years called for help reaching business people for a research project. Pelumi could contribute, and he knew a friend better placed to help.

He reached out. His friend made time, and the conversation lasted over an hour. Pelumi mostly listened and asked clarifying questions. By the end, his friend had been invited to moderate a policy discussion for the project.

An earlier introduction had helped a conference host with a tight budget connect people whose resources and needs complemented one another.

Those moments helped give the Table its purpose: articulate the work, make the need clear, and give people a chance to recognise the piece they could bring.
